Joseph Kony was born between 1961 and 1964 in Odek, a hamlet in northern Uganda. He is a member of the Acholi people, an ethnic sort estimated to make up 5% of Ugandas population. His father, Luizi Obol, was a instructor and a lay preacher at the local Catholic church building. His mother, Nora, tended to the family farm.

Joseph Konys arise group was originally called the United sanctum Salvation Army (UHSA). At first their numbers were few, but small successful raids against President Museveni and a growing discontent with the Government saw the UHSAs numbers quickly grow.
Joseph Kony think for the UHSA to overthrow the Government and install a Theocracy, based on the 10 Commandments as interpreted by him. As the rebel groups numbers grew, they began to employ military manoeuvre and saw greater success.
