TALK 5 : STUDENT ALPHA FILMING witness October 2009 Why and How should I Read the Bible? Last hebdomad we looked at the state of requester...does God hear us?...does prayer change anything? This week we are looking at the subject of the Bible. What is it? Why would we want to read it? A number of years ago my friend Dan was studying economics in Asia. He had taken, or rather smuggled, somewhat Bibles with him on his trip. One solar day he had some time off, so he took his cycles/second and cycled off into the countryside. It came to lunchtime and he came across a lesser noodle-shack restaurant. He was hungry so he went inside, ordered some noodles, ate them and then went to talk with the waiter and cooks by the kitchen. Dan pulled stunned a garner he had received from home. And on this letter was a stamp…and the visualize on the stamp was of the populace from space. In order to start the conversation, Dan tentatively pointed at the picture on the stamp and verbalise to the waiter: What is this?…and the man replied in his native tongue that it was the earth…Dan asked him who he thought had do the earth, to which the waiter replied that God had made the earth…and the waiter actually specifically used the word reserved in his actors line for the Christian God. Dan then said to the waiter Do you survive who the Son of God is? ….

Jesus, came the immediate response. Encouraged by this Dan then reached into his backpack and pulled out one of the Bibles he had with him and transfer it to the man. The waiter took it nervously, and began, gently at first, and then with growing excitement, foliation through the pages….book after book of the Bible, with his eyes wide and his work force trembling. Then the waiter closed the Bible and reluctantly turn over it back to Dan. Dan put up his hand and said No…this is for you to keep….I want you to pull in it. At this act of graciousness the eyes of the waiter began to fill with tears and he said this to Dan: All my life I have prayed that I would have a Bible of my own….and God...
