About two years agone I had an extra job working as a promotional model for a certain fellowship who cute me and a couple of other female promo models to wear disclosure clothes, and sale tobacco products to individuals; who entered the event. I was upset be compositors case the job that the company had originally booked me for was asscelled, and I was non informed on it until later. When I got wind of this information, I had a small position down with my team leader and discussed the issue that was at hand. I let her know that I was very uncomfortable with the incident that I would see to wear revealing clothes and remove tobacco products to people. It is against my morals to sell an addicting substance that can cause harm to people and in due time can cause death. Also, the clothes that they wanted us to wear were a little too revealing. The attire consisted of clothes that exposed absolute majority of my body, if not all. The outfit they wanted us to wear consisted of inadequate shorts and a half top with heels. Although at time I do wear half tops, I have on pants which balance the outfit out; and not make it look sleazy or trashy. I told my team leader that I was not a prostitute and I will not wear an outfit that makes me look desire one.
At times, I heard the other girls talking and stating that I was acting too bougie by not wanting to apprehend my job. But, I do not do things that get in the way of my morals or me being portrayed in a negative way. My team leader understood and told me that I did not have to work the event and stated that she would exploit to switch out jobs for me. Although I never worked that day or was able to switch jobs, I was happy with myself that I devote my foot down and stood up for what I believed in.
In my opinion, I feel as though the situation could have been handled a little different. The promotional model theatrical performance or the agency that booked us could have had different outfit options for us to wear.
