Context
This training is used for all new employees, upon completion of 90-day provisionary period.
It is also mandatory annually to increase understanding and compassionateness and to ensure community involvement is not overlooked overdue to stereotypical views
Description of Activity
Purpose
To aid Social Services employees in increasing knowledge base as well as see and accept their worldview.
Format-steps-process
1. Upon beginning the training, I ask the attendees to identify typical stereotypes related to drug users/abusers (a flip chart works well for this project) 15 minutes
2. Stereotyping baselines are discussed i.e. all bums are alcoholics who bustt want to work. I know this because my father verbalise so. 15 minutes. A psychological and a physiological setting is presented utilizing documents gleaned from medical journals, reference texts, etc., with open discussion 45 minutes
