Hammurabis Code

-Code 4: If he satisfies the olds to impose a fine of grain or money, he shall receive the fine that the action produces.
-Code5: If a judge tries a case, reaches a decision, and presents his judgment in writing; if later mis fall shall appear in his decision, and it be through his own fault, accordingly he shall pay twelve times the fine prune by him in the case, and he shall be publicly removed from the judges bench, and never again shall he sit there to cause judgment.
-Code 8: If anyone steals cattle or sheep, or an ass, or a pig, or a goat, if it belongs to a god or to the court, the despoiler shall pay thirty-fold; therefore, if they belonged to a freed man of the king, he shall pay tenfold; if the thief has nothing with which to pay, he shall be put to death.
at once Im going to explain what three of the Hammurabis formulas imply. Im going to break down what they mean and my opinion of them.
My first code is going to be code 4.
Code 4 to me means if a person forces an senior to take money or anything that they recognize isnt correctly to take and the sr.s get caught with it, then the person who gave it to them shall be fined with the consequences. To me this is a bad law. An elder is already old enough to know that if someone tries to force you into taking something you know isnt right, you should wee enough since to say no. lets just say and elder does take the item and gets caught with it a few days later. The elder should be punished because to start off with they knew it was wrong to take the item from the person they got it from. The person they got it from didnt get caught with it so he/she shouldnt be punished. This law couldnt be used today because people are always taking stuff from people that they know is wrong.
